Our Unforgettable Bike Ride in London

We had a fantastic and invigorating bike ride on Saturday, 22 April, that was met with great enthusiasm by everyone who attended. A total of 16 people joined us on our journey, and to our delight, another five fitness enthusiasts joined us for coffee at Battersea Park after they had finished their run around the park.

Our adventure started at 8am sharp, as we gathered at Fulham Broadway station. Although the weather was a bit chilly at first, it didn’t dampen our spirits and we set out on our adventure. We soon warmed up as we began our ride.

Our first sighting was England’s 11th largest football stadium, Stamford Bridge, home of Premier League club Chelsea, which set the tone for our impressive sightseeing adventure through London. We then moved on to South Kensington tube stop, where we turned North, passing the iconic Natural History Museum and pedalling through the picturesque Hyde Park. From there, we headed towards Hyde Park corner and eventually reached the stunning Regent’s Park. The loop around Regent’s Park is a sight to behold, and some of our more experienced riders even managed to complete two laps.

As we continued our journey, we passed by the BBC, meandered down Regent Street and through Piccadilly Circus, eventually arriving at Trafalgar Square where we took a memorable group photo. After this brief but much-needed rest, we continued our ride to St Paul’s Cathedral, passed by Bank Station, and eventually made our way over the iconic Tower Bridge. From there, we rode westward, passing by the magnificent Shard before crossing back to the North side over London Bridge.

Our ride concluded with a straight shot to Westminster, affording us the opportunity to gaze upon the majestic Big Ben before continuing southward for one final river crossing over Chelsea Bridge. Our journey’s end saw us in Battersea Park, where we indulged in some well-deserved coffee. It was heart-warming to see how well-received the event was, and we are already considering doing another ride in the Fall, perhaps one that ventures into the countryside. Maybe we’ll make it a tradition to have a city ride every Spring.
