A Memorable Chamber Evening at the House of Lords

The Chamber was delighted to bring members together for a warm and memorable evening of networking at the House of Lords, hosted by Lord Peter Hain in the historic Attlee Room.

The evening offered members the opportunity to connect in a relaxed and welcoming setting, surrounded by the history and atmosphere of one of the United Kingdom’s most iconic institutions. Conversations flowed throughout the evening, with members and guests using the occasion to strengthen existing relationships and create new ones across the UK-South Africa business community.

Lord Hain brought a personal and engaging touch to the evening, not only welcoming guests but also giving attendees a tour of both Houses of Parliament. For many, this added something truly special to the occasion, and the feedback from those attending was overwhelmingly positive, with guests commenting on how enjoyable and memorable the evening had been.

The Chamber was also pleased to welcome Finance Isle of Man as the event sponsor, represented on the evening by Paul Blake, who gave a thoughtful and well-received speech. As an executive agency of the Isle of Man Government’s Department for Enterprise, Finance Isle of Man supports businesses seeking international growth through access to global markets, investment opportunities and a respected financial services ecosystem.

Events such as this reflect the Chamber’s commitment to creating high-quality networking opportunities that feel both purposeful and personal. By bringing the right people together in exceptional settings, the Chamber continues to support meaningful conversations, stronger business relationships and closer commercial ties between the United Kingdom and South Africa.

Following the success of the evening, the Chamber hopes to host similar gatherings several times a year. These events provide members with a distinctive opportunity to connect with a carefully selected audience while enjoying access to some of the UK’s most historic and prestigious venues.

The Chamber extends its sincere thanks to Lord Peter Hain for hosting the evening, to Finance Isle of Man for their valued sponsorship, to Paul Blake for his contribution on the night, and to all members and guests who helped make it such an enjoyable and engaging occasion.
