Breakfast Round Table with Minister Dean MacPhersonWe are delighted to host the Minister for Public Works and Infrastructure, Dean MacPherson, for a Breakfast Round Table from 08h30 on Friday, 4th October at the London offices of Simmons & Simmons. |
The Minister is hoping to “make things happen”, and to generate enough enthusiasm to attract the levels of FDI required to support the regeneration and transformation of South Africa’s infrastructure. Once considered world class, a combination of neglect, mismanagement, and the need to serve a much larger and growing demographic, has resulted in a significant decline which is holding back the growth of the South African economy and hindering the spread of wealth and opportunity to a broader base. His analogy is to turn South Africa into a construction site, to make good on the desperately needed repairs and maintenance and introduce new technologies and methodologies to modernise the sector. It is hoped that this in turn will create employment and help to upskill the labour force to carry South Africa forward with longer-term sustainable growth. He also hopes that the broader reform initiative will make it easier for businesses to operate, and that government delivery on commitments will engender trust and confidence, helping to attract greater investment. Under the leadership of State President, Cyril Ramaphosa, the creation of the GNU has brought the country back from the precipice and created a sense of unity and a renewed determination to meet the needs of all South Africans. Join us to listen to Dean’s vision and responses to an “in conversation” session with Sharon Constançon of the SA Chamber UK. There will be opportunities for audience participation. A full English breakfast will be served, with teas and coffees to support the much needed networking. Due to the expected high demand for the limited number of places available, bookings will only be taken via the website and payment must be made at the time of booking. To maximise the uptake of seats, reservations made without a corresponding payment will be cancelled. You will still be able to rebook if seats are still available when you are ready to make payment.
