Having a vibrant and active Chamber of Commerce in the UK is vital to the economic interests of South Africa, given the extensive historical links between the two countries and the significant volume of trade and investment in both directions.
Members of the Chamber enjoy a wide range of services and extensive access to functions which span learning and social events. Our influential and interactive network is our most important attribute and we are privileged to enjoy the patronage of the South African High Commission to the UK and to have His Excellency Kingsley Mamabolo as our honorary President.
Our connections with business, the legal, financial services and banking sectors, international Chambers of Commerce and government representatives in the UK and SA ensure that the SA Chamber’s influence continues to grow, facilitating events and making alliances to create competitive advantage for members, working with integrity, community and fellowship. The facilitation of cross border investment, trade and business is a vital part of the Chamber’s strategy, as it seeks to support and empower stakeholders in a competitive and uncertain geopolitical world.
The SA Chamber acts to:
- promote increased trade and investment
- facilitate new trading and investment links
- provide resources, knowledge and expertise to develop member organisations
- promote best practice and strong ethical values to enhance the reputation and standing of South African companies operating in the UK
- foster links between South African businesses and organisations operating in the UK
- provide a forum for the exchange of information, ideas and opportunities
- facilitate access to decision-makers and provide input to the national policies of both countries
- provide a collective voice to businesses, NGOs and corporate bodies, even competitors, who share a common interest in better bilateral relations between the two nations
- promote the economic development of South Africa, through increased trade and inward investment into the South African economy
The SA Chamber is a not-for-profit organisation funded solely through membership fees, sponsorship and ticket sales to our events. Our ability to deliver our core objectives is entirely dependent on and proportional to the level of support from our members.
Officers of the Chamber and members of the various committees who direct and carry out the activities of the Chamber all contribute their time on a pro-bono basis. The Chamber also pays for professional services from a range of service providers as necessary and appropriate to our needs.
