The Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Johannesburg (UJ), Professor Letlhokwa Mpedi, cordially invites you to join us for an evening of celebration for the UJ@20 Alumni United Kingdom Chapter.

This memorable event will feature inspiring keynote speeches and networking opportunities with fellow alumni, associates, SA Chamber UK members and university leaders in celebration of the University turning 20.

Prof Letlhokwa George Mpedi

Letlhokwa George Mpedi is a Professor of Labour and Social Security Law and the Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Johannesburg (UJ). He completed his B Juris degree (1996) and LLB degree (1998) at Vista University. In 2001, the LLM degree in Labour Law was conferred upon him by the then Rand Afrikaans University (now UJ). The LLD degree in Mercantile Law was conferred upon him in 2006 by UJ. His most recent publication on leadership is a book, From the Baobab to the Mosquito: Rethinking Leadership through African Sayings, by Tracey McDonald Publishers.

Prof Ben Marx

Prof Ben Marx obtained his B.Compt (cum laude) in 1987, his B.Compt (Hons) in 1988 and his M.Compt (cum laude) in 1993 at the University of the Free State. He completed his doctoral thesis in Auditing (on the topic of audit committees) in 2008 at the University of Johannesburg.

He has extensive practical and commercial experience, ranging from consulting on various governance and technical aspects to directly interacting with business. He has also served as a director and audit committee member of listed and non-listed companies in various industries for over 15 years. His field of expertise further includes serving as audit committee chairman and trustee of medical aid pension funds as well as public sector entities.

Nolwazi Mamorare

Nolwazi is the Chief Financial Officer of the University of Johannesburg (UJ), a role she has held since May 2018. Having joined the University in 2014, she previously held the role of Executive Director responsible for Financial Governance and Revenue. She is a Chartered Accountant graduated from Rhodes University and the University of KwaZulu-Natal. During her career, Nolwazi has led one of the largest programmes of significant regulatory reform in financial reporting and assurance for the Higher Education sector.
