Scam Alert: Fraudulent Distribution/ Member List Email Targeting SACC UK Members

London, United Kingdom – The South African Chamber of Commerce UK (SACC UK) is issuing an urgent security alert regarding a sophisticated data-selling scam currently targeting chambers of commerce and professional associations, including our own membership.
Scammers operating under various email addresses are contacting organizations with fraudulent offers to purchase member databases. Several members have confirmed receiving such offers. A Screenshot of the communication is provided below for your reference.

Key Findings:
The Scam:
Fraudsters claim to sell exclusive, verified SACC UK member databases or contact lists.
The Reality:
There is currently no evidence that private or confidential SACC UK member data has been breached or stolen. These scammers are believed to be compiling publicly available information from websites, directories, or online platforms and repackaging it as premium member data.
The Target:
This scam specifically targets chambers of commerce, associations, and business communities by exploiting organisational trust and brand recognition.
Important Notice:
SACC UK does not sell, distribute, or authorise third-party sales of member databases, contact lists, or distribution lists through unsolicited communication.

We strongly advise all members and the wider business community to remain vigilant.
