Rene Stegmann – Connecting Africa to the Global Economy

As we celebrate Women’s Month, we recognise the women whose leadership and entrepreneurial vision are helping shape Africa’s economic future. One such leader is Rene Stegmann, whose work in global mobility and business connectivity is opening doors for companies and entrepreneurs across the continent.

Rene is the founder and owner of Relocation Africa, a multi-disciplinary global mobility business operating across much of the African continent. Through this company, she supports international organisations and professionals relocating to Africa, helping them navigate complex regulatory, logistical, and operational environments. Her work enables companies to establish themselves successfully while positioning Africa as a compelling destination for business and investment.

Complementing this, Rene also leads MyResidence Africa, a serviced accommodation platform that provides safe, vetted corporate housing solutions across Africa. By ensuring reliable accommodation for business travellers and expatriates, the platform plays an important role in supporting the continent’s growing business mobility ecosystem.

Rene’s latest initiative, the African Global Mobility Association, takes her vision a step further. The Association has been created to empower African businesses—particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)—by providing access to global networks, markets, and opportunities. Built by Africans for Africa, it aims to strengthen collaboration across the continent and ensure African enterprises have a stronger voice in global trade and innovation.

SMEs are the backbone of Africa’s economy, representing more than 90% of businesses across the continent and generating the majority of employment opportunities. By creating platforms that support international connections and visibility, Rene’s initiatives are helping ensure that African entrepreneurs have the tools and networks needed to grow and compete globally.

A key element of Rene’s work is her commitment to women’s empowerment. She recognises the vital role women entrepreneurs play in building resilient economies and is passionate about creating opportunities for women-led businesses to expand internationally. Through her leadership and initiatives, she continues to inspire women across Africa to pursue entrepreneurship, leadership, and global engagement.

Reflecting on the importance of collaboration, Rene notes:
“Building together is far more rewarding than building alone—join the energy and momentum.”

As members of the South African Chamber UK community, Rene’s work reminds us of the importance of connection, collaboration, and supporting African entrepreneurship. By engaging with initiatives that strengthen SMEs and women-led businesses, we can help drive inclusive growth and position Africa as a powerful contributor to the global economy.
