KHULA Education named a new Strategic Partner of King Charles III Charitable Fund

KHULA Education, the operating name of the David Rattray Foundation, has been selected as a strategic partner of King Charles III Charitable Fund. This marks a significant moment for the organisation and, notably, KHULA is the first education charity operating in South Africa to be chosen for this partnership.
King Charles III Charitable Fund supports over 150 organisations each year but only a small number are selected as strategic partners. KHULA’s inclusion signals strong recognition from one of the United Kingdom’s most respected philanthropic institutions.
Working in rural KwaZulu-Natal, KHULA Education supports children and young people from early childhood through to employment. Its programmes focus on strengthening foundational learning, supporting educators, and creating pathways into skills development and work in a region facing high levels of poverty and youth unemployment.
This partnership represents both validation of KHULA’s long-term, community-focused approach and an opportunity to deepen its impact. It will enable the organisation to expand its work across schools and communities, reaching more young people with sustained educational support.
“This recognition from King Charles III Charitable Fund is incredibly meaningful for our team and the communities we serve,” said Debbie Heustice, CEO of KHULA Education “It reflects the strength of the work happening on the ground in rural KwaZulu-Natal and reinforces the importance of long-term investment in education.”
KHULA Education is a UK and South Africa–registered charity with over two decades of experience working in the rural KwaZulu-Natal.
Quote from Nikki Jeffery, Executive Director of KCCF:
“We’re delighted to support KHULA Education and its highly effective, community-led programmes which benefit one of South Africa’s most underresourced regions. Their efforts are transforming opportunities for young people, strengthening local education systems and helping communities to thrive. We look forward to partnering with KHULA as they continue to deepen and expand this vital work”
