This was a breakfast event hosted by the South African Chamber of Commerce and presented by Robin Hollington of Inspired Information Systems Limited, which took place on Tuesday, 4th December at PwC, 7 Riverside, London.

Robin’s informative presentation made clear the requirements that SMEs and individuals alike need to comply with under the new Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA 2018, of which GDPR forms a part), in order secure data and to avoid any unwanted fines from the ICO.

Through the defining and clarification of the obligations and rights of both the “controller” and “processor” of data, Robin offered practical solutions as to how SMEs can avoid unnecessarily destroying collected data, securing data collected, and functions SMEs should have in place on their websites and sent correspondence which allow for an individual to “opt out” of various correspondence/emails and other data collection mechanisms.

The South African Chamber of Commerce hopes the information and insight presented by Robin will be beneficial to you and your business, and as such you won’t fail to meet the GDPR compliance criteria going forward.

Inspired Information Systems Limited are offering South African Chamber of Commerce members exclusive offers which can viewed on the loyalty page.
