Roundtable: SA Minister of Transport, Barbara Creecy

Due to a change in the Minister's schedule, this event will now take place from 6pm on Wednesday, 24 September.

A Logistics & Transport System To Support Faster & More Inclusive Growth

The South African Chamber of Commerce UK is delighted to host Honourable Barbara Creecy, South Africa’s Minister of Transport, for a high-level roundtable discussion on the future of logistics and transport reform in South Africa.

Logistics reform started gaining traction through the last administration as it became a key priority of the Presidency’s “Operation Vulindlela” structural reform group, the adoption by cabinet of the far-reaching vision of the Freight Logistics Roadmap and the creation of the National Logistics Crisis committee (which has worked on both operational and structural reform efforts around the sector). Efforts to make the sector fit to support faster and inclusive growth of the South African economy have been redoubled with the arrival of Minister Barbara Creecy into the role of Minister of Transport last year after the elections - taking control not only policy issues here but also the shareholding responsibility for Transnet.

With the Chamber’s ongoing interest in infrastructure and series of events on the topic in recent years - we are therefore delighted to welcome Minister Creecy to London and host her for a private sector engagement roundtable to hear about the government’s reform efforts and the role for the private sector in this.

We will be joined by chamber members and leaders from the logistics sector in the UK to have a detailed engagement and discussion.
