| MEDO mentors and supports over a hundred young South African entrepreneurs and has a strong track record in advising multinationals on empowerment issues. MEDO works to boost black economic empowerment in South Africa and is currently developing small black-owned businesses across 130 sites and working with a range of multi-national companies to help them secure the latest BBBEE codes which have recently been implemented by Government. MEDO has had great success with BT Global Services. As a result BT has achieved a level 2 BBBEE status which enabled it to secure the global South African Consular account from the Department of International Relations and Co-Operation (DIRCO). With MEDO as its partner BT has achieved a transformation status not even achieved by local South African telcos. The South African Trade Delegation and MEDO will be presenting this case study to British-owned businesses operating in South Africa to demonstrate that the BBBEE codes and Transformation can benefit their SA operations and give them a competitive advantage.
