CFCC International Tasting at Drapers’ Hall: Celebrating South African Wine on a Global Stage

The CFCC International Tasting at Drapers’ Hall was a vibrant and memorable evening that once again highlighted the purpose and impact of the South African Chamber of Commerce UK.
The event welcomed an exceptional turnout, bringing together an international audience filled with energy, curiosity, and engagement. The South African wines proved to be a true highlight of the evening, generating lively discussion, repeated tastings, and strong interest from guests throughout the night.
A special thank you goes to our wine sponsor, Gerhard Perold of Perold Wine Cellar, for his outstanding contribution on the evening. Beyond showcasing the wines, Gerhard generously shared the stories, heritage, and science behind South African winemaking, offering guests a deeper appreciation of what makes our wine regions so distinctive.
We are also sincerely grateful to Nicky Thompson, whose presence elevated the experience further. With her extensive knowledge of South African wines and international wine regions, she helped guests draw meaningful comparisons and gain a broader understanding of how South Africa stands confidently on the global wine stage.
Events like this reflect the essence of the Chamber’s mission. We do more than facilitate business connections — we create meaningful moments where relationships are formed, conversations are sparked, and communities are strengthened. In true Chamber spirit, the evening even brought together unexpected personal connections, further emphasising the value of our network.
We extend our thanks to the Council of Foreign Chambers of Commerce in the UK (CFCC), our fellow Chambers, partners, and all guests who contributed to making the evening such a success. It was a proud opportunity to showcase South Africa within a dynamic and influential international community.
We look forward to many more occasions like this as we continue to build bridges between South Africa and the UK through trade, culture, and collaboration.
