Global Launch of the Maselulekane Candidacy Mentoring and Support Programme

Join us in building a better future for South Africa - kickstarting the road to prosperity through a technology-enabled global mentoring collaboration.

We would like to extend a very special invitation to you for the global launch of the Maselulekane Candidacy Mentoring and Support Programme - an ambitious collaborative initiative that has the potential to become one of the most important nation-building and knowledge mentoring projects ever envisioned across Southern Africa. The launch event will be an evening of networking drinks followed by a short presentation and a light finger dinner with fine South African wines.

The SA Chamber of Commerce (SACC) and Knowledge Mentoring Global (KMG), in collaboration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and the South African Institution of Civil Engineering (SAICE) have great pleasure in inviting you to the launch on 29th March 2023 from 6pm to 10pm BST (7pm to 11pm SAST) at South Africa House in Trafalgar Square, London.

Maselulekane is designed to address the issues that indicate that South Africa is on the edge of an abyss:

• The SAICE 2022 Infrastructure Report Card for South Africa shows that the country has declined to “Level D” which means: “At risk of failure – infrastructure is not coping with normal demand and is poorly maintained. It is likely that the public will be subjected to severe inconvenience and even danger without prompt action”
• The  disruptions to power and clean water supply and the collapsing municipalities and local government infrastructure are unresolved
• Engineering and Construction in South Africa has nearly twice the average global cost statistics for repetitive and predictable human error resulting in construction mistakes, disputes, claims and time extensions
• The Engineering and Construction Sector in South Africa continues to have one of the worst Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity (EDI) statistics of almost any industry.

We believe that by connecting diasporan South African knowledge, in a well-funded and professionally managed global mentoring intervention, the tide can be turned.

The Maselulekane programme is a collaboration between private business, professional institutions and funders and will provide a structured social learning and career mentoring environment. Using South African and international mentors and subject matter experts to mentor young South African graduates in targeted peer-to-professional relationships, we will harness mobile App technology to achieve optimum knowledge exchange.

This ambitious Social Impact program offers attractive CSR, ESG and Social Enterprise benefits.
