What a wonderful colourful and energised experience, to be one of 200 speakers at this year’s AFSIC -Investing in Africa Event, on 10 October, 2022.

The event ran over two days and invariably had up to four streams running concurrently, as well as networking opportunities.

The Chamber was on a South African focused panel, chaired by Styli Charalambous from the Daily Maverick. We discussed the opportunities for trade and investment and the “can do” culture of South African’s, as well as the inherent resilience of the people, their creativity and entrepreneurialism. We covered the regulatory challenges, political and business efforts to drive change, security and corruption challenges, the need to address the power and water risks to business sustainability and future economic growth.

The underlying message was that South Africa offers huge opportunity for business to excel and value generation to be delivered.

“AFSIC – Investing in Africa is a large scale Event and Expo focused on matching business and investment opportunities in Africa. The event has grown over many years into one of the most important conduits of investment into Africa.

AFSIC – Investing in Africa is believed to be the largest Africa investment event taking place annually outside Africa and has become one of the most important conduits of investment into Africa.

The wide spread of business leaders attending from all sectors in Africa attracts a significant proportion of major investors focused on investment into Africa and a wide variety of dealmakers (such as investment bankers, corporate finance executives, fixed income and equity traders and salespeople) focused on intermediating investment into Africa.

AFSIC is entirely focused on matching Africa’s most attractive and dynamic businesses with business and investment partners. The whole fabric of the event is designed to maximise the opportunities for business leaders to match with appropriate counterparts to facilitate the growth of revenue, trade and investment with Africa.” – AFSIC website
